This recipe is a fancy version of Milanese steak. Florentine steak is stuffed before being breaded and fried, while Milanese steak is left unfilled.

Ingredients:

  • 6 thick steak
  • 200g ham, sliced
  • 200g mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • 2 tomatoes cut into thin slices
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • Breadcrumbs to coat
  • Garlic, salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

Directions:

  1. Cut the steaks in half, but keeping the two parts still attached on one side. If necessary, “hammer” them to become thinner.
  2. Season with garlic, salt and pepper.
  3. Stuff each steak with slices of mozzarella, ham and tomatoes. Use toothpick to close the open side.
  4. Dip each piece into the beaten eggs. Coat them with breadcrumbs and fry in hot oil until golden brown.
  5. Remove the toothpicks and serve immediately.

Total Time / Yield:

  • About 30-40 minutes / 6 servings
