Beef Stroganoff
This stroganoff is a quick and tasty meat recipe. It’s great for those times when you want to have a good meal but at the same time, it doesn’t take too long to prepare.
Ingredients:
- 1kg of top sirloin or tenderloin, cut into thin 2-inch-long strips or diced – lightly seasoned with salt and pepper
- 3 tablespoons of butter for frying meat
- 1 tablespoon of butter to sauté the onion
- 2 onions, chopped
- ½ cup of brandy (cognac)
- 200g of mushrooms
- 3 tomatoes chopped, peeled and seeded
- 1 tablespoon mustard
- 3 tablespoons of ketchup
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 250ml of heavy cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
- In a skillet, fry (saute), on high heat, the meat with butter.
- Remove the meat from the pan. Add the the onions and saute.
- Add the meat back to the pan and flambe with brandy by tilting the pan slightly to ignite the brandy.
- Add mushrooms and tomatoes and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Season with mustard, ketchup and Worcestershire sauce. Add salt and pepper to your taste.
- Add the heavy cream, turn off the heat and stir well to not curdle.
- Serve with white rice and french fries (or shoestring potatoes).
Total Time / Yield:
- About 25-30 minutes / 4-5 servings
Notes, Tips & Tricks:
- This recipe can be made with chicken instead of beef. Just make the substitution and follow the rest of the recipe as described above.
