Chocolate Dessert – Large Brigadier (Brigadeiro)

This recipe is a quick, family-size version of Brigadeiros (Brazilian Fudge Balls) and is all made in the microwave.

Ingredients:

  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 can (use the same can of the sweetened condensed milk as a measure) of heavy cream
  • 1 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder (if you want sweeter, add 1/2 cup of sweetened chocolate powder plus 1/2 cup of unsweetened chocolate powder)
  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • 3 large whole eggs
  • Butter for greasing cake pan for microwave
  • Chocolate sprinkles (or chocolate shavings) for garnish

Directions:

  1. Place all the first five ingredients in a blender and blend well for about 2 minutes (the more blended, more aerated it will be).
  2. Pour the mixture into the microwaveable cake pan, previously greased with butter.
  3. Place the cake pan in the microwave and cook on high for 6 to 8 minutes but, just after 6 minutes of cooking, it must be verified for consistency and then, after that, add 1 minute (or more), if necessary. (The end result should be a soft dessert, but a little more consistent than the traditional pudding.)
  4. Remove it from cake pan while still warm.
  5. Garnish with chocolate sprinkles.

Total Time / Yield:

  • 10-15 minutes / 10-12 servings

Notes, Tips & Tricks:

  • If desired, before adding the chocolate sprinkles, drizzle the top with a ready-made chocolate syrup.
