Meatballs In White Sauce

This recipe can be an alternative option to vary the preparation of ground meat-based meals.

Ingredients for meatballs:

  • 600g ground beef
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • ½ cup chopped bread
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
  • 1 cube of meat bouillon
  • 4 tablespoons of hot milk
  • Oil (vegetable oil or olive oil) or butter for greasing baking sheet
  • ½ cup grated mozzarella cheese

Ingredients for white sauce:

  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups of boiling milk
  • 1 cube of meat bouillon

Directions for meatballs:

  1. Preheat oven to 350° F (about 180°C).
  2. Dissolve the cube of meat bouillon with milk. Mix them with ground beef, beaten egg, chopped bread and chopped parsley.
  3. Make small balls, place them into a greased baking sheet and bake until the meatballs are golden brown (approximately 30 minutes). Turn them over, if necessary.

Directions for white sauce:

  1. Separately, dissolve the cube of meat bouillon with milk.
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter and add the flour.
  3. Gradually add the mixture of meat bouillon and milk while, at the same time, stirring until smooth.

How to serve:

  • Spread the white sauce over meatballs, sprinkle with grated mozzarella cheese and bake until the cheese melts.

Total Time / Yield:

  • About 1 hour / 3-4 servings

  • Rice goes really well with this recipe. You can also use it with pasta.
