Spicy Mango Salad

This combination of mango and pepper gives this salad a very special flavor.

Ingredients:

  • 2 large ripe (but very firm) mangoes, peeled and cut into thin strips
  • 1 to 2 red chilies, without seeds and finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt, or to taste
  • 1 tbsp granulated white sugar
  • 4 tbsp freshly squeezed lime juice (about 1 to 1-1/2 lime)

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, add the lime juice, salt and sugar. Mix well.
  2. Add the mangoes and chilies. Toss well all the ingredients.
  3. Before serving, set aside for 10 minutes to let the flavors get into the mango strips.

Notes, Tips & Tricks:

  • The amount of sugar and lime juice to use will depend on how green and/or sour the mangoes are. The quantities suggested above are for two large, firm mangoes that have just started to turn yellow.
